We are delighted to be involved with a leading expert firm providing a range of highly specialist welding identification and coating services to companies such as BP.  We have been consulting with them on a particular shot blast tape to perform in what can only be described as an F1 operation of preparing high specialist and controlled pipe work for oil and gas exploration. Our tape is particularly well suited. By applying 2 layers of our specialist tape it not only masks and protects the areas not to be blasted but it removes clean after use. Everyone has been delighted with the overall benefits of using this tape and we look forward to growing our working relationship in other possible industrial product solutions including Abrasives and Mykal Cleaning Solutions. 

We were recently able to help a large truck manufacturer solve what has been an ongoing issue for them by supplying a Teflon Glass Cloth Tape with excellent release properties, being used on a custom jig.

We now have several customers who we supply a KANBAN service to. Using a KANBAN system to manage your inventory has the ability to reduce stock-outs and production downtime, as well as improve lead-times and overall operations. Our KANBAN system is managed by us completing regular stock checks. When materials are running low we replenish the stock to avoid production delays. This systems gives our customer complete peace of mind that they are never going to be in a “stock out” situation.

One of our customers, a large global supplier of printing ink, printing plates, image transfer products and colourants has successfully trialled our Hermes Wide Grinding Belts as an equivalent to their current grinding belts and are delighted with the results with our belts passing all lab tests. These belts are silicon carbide segmented paper belts and are suitable for use on metal, wood, lacquer, composite, glass, ceramics and stone.

We have recently had some success with a large outdoor media company using our MYKAL Graffiti Remover Wipes. Although an unusual product for us to promote we see this being unique as it is so effective on a wide range of surfaces and its applications are vast, including the transport industry and public environments.

Designed for use on porous and non-porous surfaces such as brickwork, shutters, bus shelters, advertising hoardings, washroom surfaces and rolling stock, these wipes effectively remove inks, paints and graffiti. MYKAL Graffiti Remover wipes are non-toxic and are successfully replacing hazardous and ozone depleting solvents.

We have recently carried out some successful trials using our new high temperature acrylic foam tape, which is able to withstand temperatures up to 220°C. This tape is ideal for manufacturing & signage and bonding materials prior to powder-coating or paint baking.

This tape exhibits incredibly high bond strength and delivers durability and longevity even at high temperatures. It is able to withstand extremes of temperature, high forces applied to the bond, water and most solvents and chemicals.

An existing plastics manufacturing customer asked us about the possibility of converting our ultra-high bond sheets into 290mm diameter discs. This product has been supplied to this customer in sheet form for many years and we were delighted to be able to assist in supplying these as converted discs. We were able to produce the discs by using a plotter rather than a rotary tool, which allowed less wastage between each part and the ability to supply as individual parts with a liner on both sides.

We were contacted by a world leading manufacture and design company who asked if we could supply them with a masking solution for their specific application. After obtaining a drawing and sample from the customer we were able to customise a unique cylindrical cap suitable for their particular requirements.

One of Glasgow's established metal fabricators for the building industry carried out trials using our long life ceramic pro-cut series discs versus traditional aluminium oxide. The stock removed far quicker, the finish is far better and discs lasted up to four times as long! The client was so please with the performance and the long term saving they have asked us to manage the consignment stock on site to ensure a continuous “Just In Time” supply.  They finish the surface with the Webrax light deburring discs for a fantastic blemish free finish prior to powder coating.  If you are interested in our Abrasive range for improved finish, time and usage savings, or, would like to consider us for consignment stock arrangement please get in touch.

Following on from our success in sourcing a suitable adhesive for the Liverpool One contract, a customer contacted us looking for an appropriate product for outdoor advertising shelters. The substrates being bonded were glass to a painted stainless steel frame, however on this occasion the adhesive had to be clear. We were able to offer a clear single part adhesive, which was strong enough to bond both substrates, yet suitable to meet the COSH requirements stipulated.

Initial trials were successful and our customer is now using the product on installations.

It's amazing the things that can be achieved with adhesives. Take for instance 3M Scotchweld Cyanoacrylate Adhesive, this glue holds the world record for lifting a forklift truck that weighs a whopping 8.1 metric tons!! 

In order to break this Guinness World Record, a 2 part steel cylinder, is glued together using 3M Scotchweld Instant Adhesive, it is left to set for 4 hours before the team attach the cylinders to the forklift truck and begin the lift, when the required height of 1 metre is reached, the clock begins and when the hour mark is reached a new World Record is set.

We recently supplied a leading aircraft manufacturer with our Double Sided Polyimide Tape to bond two specialist materials together. This product was selected due to its mechanical properties and high temperature performance.

Having been thoroughly tested for bond strength and flame retardancy it was found that our Double Sided Polyimide Tape out performed anything trialled before. Our tape has now been specified for use and is currently undergoing trial for further possible applications.

We were asked by a leading global logistics company to help them solve issues they were having with their separator cards for mailing machines. They were looking for a robust card that wouldn’t be damaged by the rubber belts feeding the mail, but the material had to be flexible. After meeting with the customer, and seeing their current processes, we suggested a durable plastic material, and a suitable over-laminated bar code label adhered to one side.

With the customers agreement we developed a separator card custom-made to their specific needs. The card had to have a label which triggered the magnet and allowed the computer to read the bar code. We developed artwork for a specific bar code label to suit their requirements. This label was then stuck onto our plastic material, using an aggressive adhesive, and over-laminated to protect it long-term. The separator cards were trialled, and worked very well on the customer’s high speed sorting lines.
